Child Profiles
A child profile is a reusable planning context for one of your learners. It tells the app who you are planning for, what grade they are in, which curriculum they use, and any notes that help plans fit them better.
Why Profiles Matter
When you generate a plan, the app uses the child profile to choose grade-appropriate language, difficulty, activities, and subjects. Instead of typing the same details every time, you select a profile and the planner already knows what to consider.
Creating a Child Profile
To add a new profile:
- Go to the Child Profiles section.
- Select Add Profile.
- Enter your child’s name or nickname.
- Choose the current grade level.
- Select the main subjects they are studying.
- Add the curriculum or resources they use for each subject.
- Include any learning notes, such as preferred pacing, interests, strengths, or accommodations.
The notes field is especially helpful. If your child loves hands-on science, struggles with long reading passages, or learns best in the morning, the AI can factor that into generated plans.
What to Include in Learning Notes
Learning notes can be short, but they are more useful when they are specific. Consider adding:
- Favorite topics or current obsessions.
- Subjects that need extra support or review.
- Reading level or preferred book length.
- Pacing preferences, such as short daily lessons or longer twice-weekly blocks.
- Any accommodations, goals, or reminders you want the AI to keep in mind.
You do not need to write a full learning plan. A few clear sentences are enough.
Free Tier Cap
On the free plan, you can create up to 2 child profiles. This works well for smaller households or trial users. If you need more profiles, upgrading to the Family or Family+ tier removes the limit.
Editing and Managing Profiles
You can return to a profile at any time to update the grade level, subjects, curriculum, or notes. This is useful when you switch resources mid-year or when your child’s interests change.
To edit a profile:
- Open the Child Profiles list.
- Select the profile you want to update.
- Make your changes.
- Save.
You can also remove profiles you no longer need. Removing a profile does not delete plans already generated for that child unless you choose to delete them separately.
How Profiles Are Used in Planning
When you open the Planner, the first step is usually selecting a child profile. The planner uses that profile to:
- Suggest subjects and topics appropriate for the grade level.
- Match activities to the listed curriculum.
- Apply learning notes to tone, pacing, and format.
- Save the finished plan under the right child for your Portfolio.
Profiles keep planning personal and efficient. The more accurate your profiles, the more useful your generated plans will be.
