Getting Started

Get up and running with EdToolkit in just a few minutes. Choose the guide that matches your account type.

EdToolkit for Teachers

Create your account

  1. Visit classroom.edtoolkit.com  and select Get Started Free.
  2. Enter your name and email address, or sign in with Google.
  3. Review and accept the privacy policy and terms of service. You must confirm you are at least 18 years old.
  4. You will be taken to your Dashboard — the teacher command centre.

Complete the onboarding checklist

Your dashboard shows an onboarding checklist with three steps:

  1. Create account — already done.
  2. Create a classroom profile — go to Profiles in the sidebar and add your first profile. Enter your grade or year group, subject, curriculum, and a brief description of your learners.
  3. Generate your first plan — go to Planner, select your new profile, describe what you want to teach, and hit Generate.

Once all three steps are complete, the checklist disappears and you have full access to the dashboard.

What to do next

  • Explore the Planner — try different plan types (lesson, unit, intervention) and pedagogical frameworks. See the Planner guide.
  • Set up differentiation — edit your profile to add anonymised support flags (IEP/504 counts, EAL tiers, reading supports). The planner will use these automatically. See Classroom Profiles.
  • Try Connected Tools — open a saved project and use it to generate differentiated texts, quizzes, or rubrics. See Connected Tools.
  • Track coverage — initialise curriculum coverage on your profile to see which outcomes your plans have addressed. See Curriculum Coverage.

EdToolkit for Homeschool

Create your family account

  1. Visit homeschool.edtoolkit.com  and select Create a family account.
  2. Enter your name (as parent or guardian) and email address, or sign in with Google.
  3. Review and accept the privacy policy and terms of service.
  4. You will be taken to your Dashboard — the family command centre.

Set up your family

Your dashboard shows a setup checklist to help you reach first value:

  1. Accept privacy and terms — already done during signup.
  2. Set your family context — go to Settings in the sidebar. Choose your jurisdiction (this drives compliance checklists), school year dates, teaching approach, curriculum mode, and planning cadence.
  3. Add a child profile — go to Children and create a profile for your first child. Enter their name, grade or level, subjects, and any learning notes.
  4. Save a plan — go to Plans, select your child, describe what you want to teach, generate a plan, and save it to your Family Library.

What to do next

  • Set up compliance tracking — go to Compliance and select your jurisdiction. A checklist of obligations will be generated automatically. See Compliance Tracker.
  • Build a portfolio — as you save plans and generate learning materials, they will appear in Portfolio grouped by child. See Portfolio.
  • Try the learning tools — open a saved plan and use it to generate differentiated reading, quizzes, or rubrics. See Learning Tools.
  • Configure family settings — fine-tune your teaching approach, required subjects, and planning cadence in Settings. See Family Settings.
