Homeschool App Overview

Welcome to the EdToolkit Homeschool App.

This app is a simple, family-centered space designed to help homeschooling parents plan lessons, track local requirements, and gather evidence of learning for their children. Whether you are homeschooling one child or several, the app keeps the focus on your family, your schedule, and the way you like to teach.

You do not need to be a trained educator to use it. The tools are built for everyday parents who want practical support for weekly planning, record keeping, and staying on top of local rules.

Instead of juggling spreadsheets, paper planners, and scattered files, you can keep lesson planning, compliance tracking, and record keeping in one place.

Who It Is For

This app is for homeschooling families and parents who want:

  • A clear way to plan lessons and units without starting from scratch every week.
  • Confidence that they are covering local homeschool requirements.
  • A single place to save plans, resources, and learning artifacts.
  • Tools that adapt to each child rather than assuming a one-size-fits-all classroom.

What You Can Do

The homeschool app helps you:

  1. Set up your family context once, including jurisdiction, teaching approach, and required subjects.
  2. Create a profile for each child so plans match their grade, curriculum, and needs.
  3. Generate AI-powered lesson plans, unit studies, and targeted practice activities.
  4. Track compliance checklists, legal notes, and key deadlines for your area.
  5. Build a portfolio of saved plans and learning evidence for every learner.
  6. Use connected tools for reading, quizzes, rubrics, and printable resources.

Core Features

Explore the main sections:

  • Family Settings: Choose your jurisdiction, school year, teaching style, curriculum mode, and required subjects.
  • Child Profiles: Add each learner with grade, curriculum, and notes that carry into every plan.
  • Planner: Generate lesson plans, multi-lesson units, and targeted practice, then save or export them.
  • Compliance Tracker: Review a jurisdiction-based checklist of requirements, legal information, and deadlines.
  • Portfolio: Collect and review saved plans and learning artifacts for each child.
  • Learning Tools: Create differentiated readings, quizzes, rubrics, and resource materials.
  • Plans & Billing: Pick the free, Family, or Family+ tier that matches your household.

Family-First Approach

The homeschool app is intentionally separate from the teacher app. Your family data, child profiles, saved plans, and portfolio items live in their own space and are not mixed with classroom data.

Everything is configured around your household, and every tool uses that context automatically. You do not need to re-enter the same information for every plan.

Using This Guide

Each page in this section walks through one part of the app. You can read them in order or jump to the section you need. The examples are written for parents, not developers or professional teachers.

Family Privacy

Because the homeschool app is isolated from the teacher app, your children’s names, grades, plans, and learning records stay within your family workspace. Nothing is shared with classroom accounts unless you choose to move it yourself.

Getting Started

If you are ready to set things up, start with Family Settings, then move on to Child Profiles. Once those are in place, you can begin generating plans in the Planner.
